Dinah,
I'm surprised that magazine didn't spontaneously combust when it touched your hands.
just got a september '08 awake in my paws.. the cover asks "is there life beyond the grave".
they have a quote from forrest gump (of course he wasn't mentioned by name but i've seen the movie a million times).
it says roughly: in a movie a young man is shown standing by his mother's grave.

dear fellow gourmands,.
i have completed the polishing off of a sizeable portion of fettuccine, smothered with an ordinary tomato sauce including ground beef, lottsa herbs, extra virgin olive oil and topped with grated romano and chopped italian parsely.. therefore, i am in a state complete and utter satisfaction.
what foods - dishes - feed your soul as well as your belly?.
Dagney, I've been using the brown rice pasta for a while now. For some reason I can't seem to tolerate regular pasta anymore, and this seems like a good alternative for me.
ok, i am on my 8th book this month - not too bad for this mommy.
anyway, i've gotten back to my previous life of indulging myself into books that you can't put down.
little children by tom perrotta.. excellently portrayed 2 unhappily married suburbans who's repetitive wrong choices impact a their dull lives, yet alter your own moral thinking of them being heroic in their quest to find happiness with a self imprisoned/trapped marriage they each lead.
I just read the Red Tent as well, loved it, made me long for my "sisters" to be closer to me, and renewed my faith in what it means to be a woman.

This was taken tonite, long story lol.
just got an email from a cousin.
i'm invited to my aunts 65th birthday this month!!
this is the first real family birthday party i've been invited to!
LOL not worried about any beheadings. None of them ever were JW's. I've been to birthday parties before for friends, but this is a first for this branch of my family.
I will have to get something nice for my aunt, she's been through alot the last couple of years. I do love shopping for presents!

does anyone remember being a little kid and being forced to sit through those 2 hour meetings?
specifically being made to listen to graphic accounts of whatever country that was going through horrific persecution.
(or any other horrors you might remember).
Hi Mandette
Yep, I have those memories. Memories of praying my heart out to "Jehovah" to help the brothers and sisters in Africa being beaten, tortured, raped, imprisoned because of not carrying a 25 cent political card, and later finding out it could all have been avoided.
Hearing from my mother what could happen to us during the GT. That us children might see our parents shot or tortured infront of us to try and get us to renouce our faith in "Jehovah".
I could go on, but I won't. Needless to say, these were things a child should not have had to worry about.

so- thought i'd start a thread to see how life is treating you folks !
let's talk about anything you want .
we will let the direction of the thread take it's own course !
Had to put my dog down today. She had cancer, and it was almost a year that I found that out. I did everything I could for her, but the cancer wouldn't give up it's march. Took her up to my cabin, gave her a good last few days, swimming, sitting by the fire, steak and chocolate. It was very fast and very peaceful, she just closed her eyes and was gone.
A few weeks ago the cabin was broken into, alot of things were taken, very disheartening.
Got good news about my job this week though .

dear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.
I had to get a new cell phone today, been having problems with my old one for a while now, and today the screen went blank, I could send and receive phone calls, but couldn't see what number I had dialed, and of course couldn't read text messages - that killed me, knowing there were messages there that I couldn't see!!
I bought an unlocked Blackberry, it's going to take me a while to figure out how to use everything on that thing!!
The guys at the store must have thought I was a totall idiot! First I had the sim card put in wrong. Then couldn't figure out how to send a text message, had to have the guy show me step by step! D'oh felt like a total moron! Still haven't figured out where the web browser is, I want to find that so I can check in here when I'm away.
